Schenectady High School Pool

Now Open

The Schenectady school district and the Capital District YMCA have teamed up to open the Schenectady high school pool to the community. To swim in the pool, you need a swim pass which can be purchased at the new Schenectady YMCA located at 433 State Street, across from Proctors. The monthly cost for the swim pass is provided below. The cost to swim in the pool is a couple of dollars a day, and allows us to cover the cost to staff the pool and open the pool to the public.

In addition to open swimming, we will soon offer swimming lessons and group swim programs. We thank you for your patience as we complete our schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I live in Schenectady. Why can’t I swim for free?
The pool is open again because the school district has partnered with the Capital District YMCA to share the high cost of staffing and operating a pool. The Y is a charitable, non-profit organization and cannot afford to staff and run the pool without help from the public to cover the expenses involved in running a pool.

When will swimming lessons and group programs be offered?
We’re starting with open swimming so many people can enjoy swimming right away when the pool opens. We will add swimming lessons and group swim programs just as soon as we have a clear picture of student and community needs and interests. Thank you for your patience.

Is there a senior discount?
Please ask about the many programs offered to seniors by area healthcare providers.
