Camp Director, Kat Fitzpatrick                               (518) 656-9462 ext 6632  kfitzpatrick@cdymca.org  Kat is crazy about camp, for it is the place "where campers become the people they were meant to become."  She came to camp life via a career in Waldorf school administration and teaching. After running her own small, private camp in 2006 she joined YMCA Camp Chingachgook in 2007, first as an Outdoor Educator and then as Publicity Photographer and Adventure Trip Leader.  She rounded out her experience through coordinator positions at YMCA Camp Campbell in California and YMCA Camp Erdman in Hawaii.  In addition to being the Camp Director at Wa Wa Segowea she also serves as the Assistant Groups Director at Camp Chingachgook. Kat enjoys just about every outdoor activity imaginable, but also sometimes hibernates indoors to read, write and draw.  Her two grown children, Chelsea and Dylan Gandy, are her constant inspiration.

 

Facility Director, Norm Button                               (413) 229-9110  nbutton@cdymca.org Norm was the facility director at Camp Fiver in New York State for eight years before accepting the new facility director position at Segowea. With a mechanical engineering degree from SUNY Morrisville, Norm is a talented builder and problem solver. Norm, his wife Dianne, and teenage daughter Ashley, began living at Camp Segowea full-time in 2009. Norm’s hobbies include building sets for community and school theater productions and taking care of the family’s three horses. Norm completed major renovations to Hart Lodge, Keller Cabin, and upgrades to Cabin Row in 2009. He recently put his talents to use help to renovate an orphanage in Haiti with his church group.

 

 

Executive Director, George Painter                          (518) 656-9462 ext 6600  gpainter@cdymca.org     George has been involved with YMCA Camping programs for over 40 years as a camper, counselor, program director, and camp director. A former middle school science teacher, George has been the Executive Director of YMCA Camp Chingachgook on Lake George since 1986. Under George's supervision, the Capital District YMCA is excited and proud to include Wa Wa Segowea in the Berkshires as one of its camping programs for children.     George and Kat are primarily based at Segowea's year-round office located at: 1872 Pilot Knob Road, Kattskill Bay, NY 12844. Norm is based on-site at Segowea year-round at: 408 Foley Hill Road, Southfield, MA 01259.
