YMCA Day Camp - General Info
YMCA Character Development
The Capital District YMCA camping belief is to deliver a program in
a positive environment of safety, support, and care, that will allow the
children the opportunity to relax and participate in a variety of activities.
The camping activities focus on teaching caring, honesty, respect, and
responsibility values through arts and crafts, sports, board games, circle
games, group projects, and creative play. Staff plan activities around
weekly themes, which address these four values. Children learn to develop
positive social skills in preparation for their life as productive citizens.
Health and Safety
Our day camp meets the highest health and safety standards of the YMCA
and the NYS Health Department. All day camps are inspected and licensed
by the NYS Health Department. Camper safety is the most important aspect
of camping and will be emphasized during staff recruitment, training,
and throughout the summer. First aid equipment is always available and
staff is trained in First Aid and CPR.
Expert Staff Make It Fun and Safe
You can depend on the YMCA to ensure that all camp activities are
well-supervised and safe. Camp staff is selected on the basis of experience,
education, sensitivity, and enthusiasm. Staff go through a complete interview
process, including background checks, followed by an intensive training.
Financial Assistance
The Capital District YMCA strives to make its programs and facilities
available to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
Funds raised through the YMCA's Reach Out For Youth annual support campaign
are designated to the ACCESS program. Through ACCESS, program and membership
fees are subsidized on a sliding scale basis considering family size and
income.
For financial assistance consideration please call the YMCA for an ACCESS
application. All applications must include current documentation of all
family income (DSS, SSI, CAP, etc.) to be considered for funding. Check
the appropriate box on the registration form to receive more information
and an application.
Eligible families are able to receive up to 100% funding through DSS.
Contact your case worker for details.
