YMCA Day Camp - General Info

Camp Objectives
Capital District YMCA Summer Camps provide an opportunity to:

  • Have fun and adventure in a safe environment.
  • Enhance individual character and moral development.
  • Develop new skills and interest and have new experiences.
  • Develop a respect for the nature world and work for its conservation.
  • Develop new friendships and social skills and learn about team work and group responsibility.
  • Develop an appreciation of self-worth and self-expression.
  • Develop a sense of cultural appreciation and work for worldwide understanding.

Camping Philosophy
The YMCA strives to deliver high quality camping
programs that will provide participants with the "Experience of a Lifetime: in a safe, educational, and fun environment."

Schenectady Day Camp General Info

The Schenectady YMCA offers two summer camps at the YMCA Turchi Family Center, located on Balltown Road at the Oswald D. Heck Development Center in Niskayuna. The Schenectady YMCA also operates an off site camp at Bradt Elementary School. The camp operates 9 one-week sessions during the summer. The camps are divided by age: youth camp for students entering grades 1 through 4 and Teen Camp for students entering grade 5 through 8. Our counselor ratio is 1:10 to endure a safe and quality experience for each child.
