Chairman's Message

Building stronger Schenectady kids, stronger Schenectady families and a stronger Schenectady Community

The new Schenectady YMCA will fulfill the Capital District YMCA's continuing commitment to meet the health, fitness and wellness needs of men, women and children in the greater Schenectady community. The YMCA will provide a wealth of opportunities for individuals and families to grow in spirit, mind and body at every life stage.

For the young poeple of Schenectady, the new YMCA will offer an unprecedented level of recreational, educational and social programming; the highest quality child care; the nurturing of core leadership qualities; and the promotion of fitness and healthy lifestyles.

For Schenectady families, the new facility will build stronger family ties, provide services and facilities for every age level, and offer space for intergenerational programming.

For the Schenectady community, the Y will focus on crucial needs including at-risk youth, teens and families, while promoting workforce development and providing a strong economic stimulus to a resurgent downtown.

Giving Levels and Naming Opportunities

The Schenectady YMCA would be proud to have your name or business permanently recognized on the Capital Campaign Donor Wall in the lobby of the new Schenectady YMCA. Levels of giving:

Quite often families, civic groups, businesses and not-for-profit foundations provide much needed funding for our capital projects.

In return the YMCA gratefully recognizes the donor by naming a specific area, room or portion therof in the name of a benefactor or their designee.

A gift of this nature is formally identified with a plaque and will remain as a continual reminder of the benefactor's involvement and dedication to the YMCA and the individual branch facility.
