Leadership Report

Dear YMCA Friends, Colleagues and Supporters:

It is hard to imagine that on an average day more than 20,000 children and adults come through the doors of our Capital District YMCA facilities. This proves our mission of building strong kids, strong families and strong communities is alive and well, on a daily basis. The Capital District YMCA is strong and we are committed to our objectives and goals to remain a leader in the community.

As an organization, we must thank former President and CEO, John Flynn, for the dedication and vision he offered the Capital District YMCA for 21 years. His accomplishments must be recognized and applauded. The Capital District YMCA has a strong and professional management team and a large assembly of dedicated and capable volunteers that will guide the association well into the future.

The purpose of an annual report is to provide members, friends and "investors" with an overview of the association. In 2006, we made dramatic strides in our mission as well as creating the groundwork for a stronger organization.

Our Reach Out For Youth Annual Support Campaign set another record, raising over $1.2 million dollars which will be directed to providing programs and deliver YMCA services to over 3,000 children and their families throughout our Capital District service area. We thank the 5000-plus corporate and private donors that make this possible.

Our service area continues to improve and grow. The capital campaign and facility improvement projects are progressing and we anticipate a great deal of activity in 2007. The new Schenectady YMCA capital campaign continues and we hope to have shovels in the ground within the coming months. The construction of the KidzLodge - Early Learning and Adventure Center in Clifton Park is on schedule and will open in late August. The completion of the Southern Saratoga, Greenbush and Bethlehem YMCA expansions continue to receive enthusiastic reviews from members and the communities. The YMCA is fortunate to have an enthusiastic group leading the effort to develop a YMCA facility in Greene County. We look forward to expanding our facilities at the Troy Family and Greater Glenville YMCA branches.

We are entering an exciting time for the YMCA as we broaden and deepen our agenda for the Capital District area. Thank you for your interest in and supporting of our important work.
