The Sculpins, the Capital District YMCA’s Synchronized Swim Team, are thrilled to be able to bring two highly skilled and respected swimmers to our area, Bill May and Heather Simmons. Bill May started his synchronized swimming career with the Syracuse Synchro Cats, competing against our local athletes at many Zone Competitions. He moved to California at age 16 to swim for the Santa Clara Aquamaids. As a synchronized swimmer, Bill was a national champion and well reputed as one of the best synchronized swimmers in the world. Bill is currently a cast member in Cirque du Soleil’s “O” in Las Vegas. Joining Bill is Heather Simmons, a 1996 Olympic medalist. During her swimming career, Heather competed for the Santa Clara Aquamaids. Bill and Heather will be sharing their skills and experience with the CDYMCA Synchronized swimmers throughout the weekend.
